Last night at about 00:16 Q409 went into emergency in Springfield,MA. He reported to the dispatcher that the second locomotive was on fire and they need fire trucks. The second locomotive was MEC 305. Three trucks from Springfield Fire Department responded and arrived around 00:25. The fire was out by 1:00. The locomotive was believed to be in no condition to continue on to Selkirk. Q409 was on the move by 1:30 with MEC 305 dead in tow.
